4. Assessment. The effective educator consistently:
a. Analyzes and applies data from multiple assessments and measures to diagnose students’ learning needs, informs instruction based on those needs, and drives the learning process;
Throughout my inquiry process, I decided to apply multiple forms of assessments and data that measures how well one of my student’s comprehension is after reading a story. Through these assessments, I am starting to get an idea of where this student is how I can help her improve her comprehension. This data can inform my instruction so I able to change the way I teach comprehension to fit all my student’s needs.

c. Uses a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress, achievement and learning gains;
I decided to use a variety of assessment tools to monitor one of my focus students’ progress and where this student is at in terms of reading comprehension. I took observation notes while my Collaborating Teacher(CT) gave this student a DRA, I gave the student a beginning reading test and then gave her a hard reading test to see where she was at.

d. Modifies assessments and testing conditions to accommodate learning styles and varying levels of knowledge;
During my level three internship, I completed a connected lesson where I had to give the students a pre-test and a post-test. while I was giving the pre and post test, I decided to have my Collaborating teacher sit with a small group of students to accommodate their different learning styles.

All throughout my final internship, I have made sure that I accommodate the different learning styles and varying levels of knowledge throughout my lessons. During one of my lessons on teaching the students how to do Part-Part-Whole, I decided to do stations to make sure I am giving all of my students an opportunity to learn how to solve a Part-Part-Whole problem through a variety of strategies.

e. Shares the importance and outcomes of student assessment data with the student and the student’s parent/caregiver(s);
During my final internship, I was given the opportunity to sit in during conference night while my Collaborating Teacher explained to the parents how their child was doing and whether or not they need to improve in certain areas in order to be succeed in kindergarten.

f. Applies technology to organize and integrate assessment information.
By using technology to organize and integrate the data from the pre and posttest for my connected lessons, I was able to see what areas my students were stronger and weaker in. This also helped me compare the data between the two to see if I was able to teach my students what I needed to in order for them to understand the material they didn't already know when they took the pretest.
