The Cornett Text Pages 1-2 is basically an introduction to the book. It explains what Art integration really is and also give two examples. Pages 24-30 talks about Common Core State Standards and how they guide teachers teaching. It also explains that it forces students to participate and not just sit at their desks hour after hour. I strongly believe that Common Core State Standards help students think deeper about the topic they are learning about. Although standards are just ideas, they give teachers ideas to teach their students what they need to learn in order to progress. These pages also explain what Common Core and Art Standards have in common. The text states that there are multiple standards that reference art whether its a reading standard, a writing standard or math standard. Standards should boost art learning and art integration will create motivating learning and creative thinking.

1. The article Family Partnership talks about what schools are currently doing about parent involvement and what they could be doing to improve parent involvement to improve their students learning (Allen, 2008). There were three approaches that were researched in order to reach their goal. There three approaches were: building respectful relationships, engaging families in supporting learning at home, and addressing cultural differences. The article also talked about teachers who participate in home visits and have conversations about family and work history. These home visits allow teachers and families to have mutual trust and a healthy partnerships to help their students more. It is very important for parents and teachers to have discussions about different cultural backgrounds which could include talking about personal life experiences. A good way to begin would be to think about all of the activities going on at your school that aim at parental involvement and see which of those you can build and improve on to be sure that you are creating opportunities with students' families to help them keep growing.
1.) In the article Inviting all Students to Learn it explains ways in which we as teachers can recognize, accept, and incorporate culture in the classroom and among our students. It expressed the importance of recognizing different cultures and the way it can shape an individual specifically a student in the classroom. Although we may not always understand the culture of all of the individuals we come in contact with, we must respect how a culture has developed each person into their specific strengths and weaknesses. Once we recognize and accept these characteristics and cultures, we can then build upon those to strengthen each students needs in and outside of the classroom.
