After reflecting on my lesson from November 10h, I believe I am getting better at teaching the students compared to my last observation. I was more prepared and comfortable about this lesson because I was able to design it on my own. The students really enjoyed the book I chose to read to them and I think I did a great job reading it. My CT told me the students also enjoyed the activity they had to do after the reading. I incorporated cooperative learning because I wanted the students to work together to achieve the same goal. I had the students answer one of the questions as a group to help them understand the book a little better. Each person in the group had to work together and depend on one another so they would succeed with answering the questions. Although I feel as if I did a good job, there is always room for improvement and things I wish I would've done differently. One thing I wish I did differently is going over some of the things you would analyze in a story before I read to them, for instance the settings and the characters so they are ready for the activity after the read aloud. I also should have had the students roll the die and collect them before I explained to them what the activity was so they wouldn't get distracted. One thing I would like to work on for my next my next lesson is praising the students and communicating with them more. Overall I think I did a great job compared to my first observation.
- Did cooperative learning help my students learn the lesson?
- What other psychological theory could I have incorporated in my lesson to make it better?
