1. Instructional Design and Lesson Planning. Applying concepts from human development and learning theories, the effective educator consistently:
a. Aligns instruction with state-adopted standards at the appropriate level of rigor;
In order to prepare for a lesson to teach in my internship, I create a lesson plan to give to my CT or my supervisor. I take the subject and the lesson I am going to be teaching about and research for the state-adopted standard on CPALMS. CPALMS is a website teachers use to look up standards and lessons to help them teach their class or prepare a lesson plan. Below is a lesson plan I prepared for my CT observation on February 16th, 2016.

For every lesson I teach, I have to figure out which state-adopted standards are at the appropriate level of rigor for the lesson I will be teaching. During my final internship, I had to search for the standards that best fit my lesson on Part-Part-Whole.

b. Sequences lessons and concepts to ensure coherence and required prior knowledge;
During my level three internship, I completed a connected lesson where both lessons contained information that built off of one another. By teaching the two lessons back to back, I was able to ensure coherence between the two lessons. I was also able to connect my height lesson to the students prior knowledge because I asked them to measure height by using each other to make a better connection.

c. Designs instruction for students to achieve mastery;
During my connected lesson, I taught length on day one and height on day two. On day two, I decided to begin with a short review of how to measure length before I moved onto height. By doing this, I decided to have the students do a turn and talk with their carpet partner. Before doing so, I gave them about 5 seconds to think about how they learned to measure length and then I allowed them to discuss with a partner about how to measure the length of an object. By giving the students wait time, I allowed them to think about what they wanted to say before they discussed with a partner.

d. Selects appropriate formative assessments to monitor learning;
During my connected lessons, I used several formative assessments for both lessons. When I taught how to measure length on day one, I observed the students meauring the length of two different size pipe cleaners and two of the same size pipe cleaners. Based on their answers, I knew if they were ready to move on or if they need more practice. Another formative assessment I used during this lesson was the work sheet they had to complete at the end of the lesson. On day two, the two formative assessments I sed to monitor learning was when the students had to measure their height compared to one of their peers to see who was the shortest and who was the tallest. I also lined up four students at the beginning of the lesson and asked the class who was the tallest, the shortest, and the same height. The last formative assessment i used during this lesson to monitor learning was the worksheet the had to complete.

e. Uses diagnostic student data to plan lessons
After administering a pretest to understand what knowledge my students' already had on the content for my connected lessons, I was able to adjust my lesson plans based on the scores from the pretest. Based on the data, I realized that I needed to focus a lot of my lesson on making sure the students understood how to measure length and the vocabulary that describes length since most of my students' answered this question incorrectly. The data from the pretest and changing my lesson based on the data helped me meet my students learning needs.

f. Develops learning experiences that require students to demonstrate a variety of applicable skills and competencies.
During my final internship, I taught a lesson on Part-Part-Whole. This was a very difficult topic for the students to learn because they were learning how to add using number bonds. During my lesson, I had them show me they understood who to use a number bond and find the two parts throughout four different stations. Through these stations, the students had to demonstrate a variety of applicable skills and competencies.
